Cathode
Special Measures
A Norman Records recommendation (12th December 2006)

This record left our Phil feeling happy.
Cathode are back with a brand new album on Expanding. After a couple of previous bits on Static Caravan and 555 the Georgies are back with a 9 track opus called Sparkle Plenty. From the off we're treated to some nice beaty melodic electronica, the likes of I've not heard for a while! I do like a bit of melodic electronica of an afternoon. Musically there's bits of Magnetophone in there and hints of Boards of Canada as well as other folks like Isan, Alva Noto and whatnots. It's good quality well produced electronica which you need if you're into all of that gear. I am 'n all. Lots tinkles, beats, whizzes and clicks all combine to make a near ear treat. Comes in a lush digipack with a nice watery pic on the front. Tasty!!
