Always thought The Moldy Peaches were a bad, childish gag of a band so how come almost everything I hear from the core members Adam Green & Kimya Dawson I think is great? It's like putting two talented & charming children together only to watch them descend into mud fights & uncontrollable tantrums. Kimya has a new CD & Big record out called 'Hidden Vagenda' (guffaw) on K. Her shtick is a brilliant sonic stew of skewed folk & lo-fi indie bliss & fits in with the K roster like mature cheddar & fine wine. I love her purring honeyed tones & way with a heartwarming tune, her kooky nursery rhyme lyrics & everything. Like a much naughtier Lois Maffeo I'd say. Absolutely great stuff.

The problem with almost every contemporary female vocalist is that they’re always pretending to be something that they’re not. Sometimes it’s a highly feminine sophisticated sexual, love-lost artist’s with their heart on their sleeves. Always pretending that they actually feel something or maybe sing about a great love they never had. The Moldy Peaches co-founder, and goddaughter of Antifolk, Kimya Dawson, succeeds by simply being true to herself. There is no empty space between her visions. There is no filler in her songs. Kimya succeeds by being tender and vulnerable, silly and raw. She shows you what she feels and makes you want to feel it too. She shows you what she loves and makes you love it. She is the quintessential bohemian artist. She is what almost every smoky nightclub jazz chanteuse wishes she could be --authentic. Kimya is the artist-poet skateboard girl. And, most importantly, she is a very delicate human sensing device. She is the only real human on a planet full of androids. What makes her and her music so unique and amazing is her undiluted humanity, comparable only with Richard Prior in the way she uses humor and sorrow combined as a personal healing device 14 Songs: Its Been Raining, Fire, Viva la Persistence, Lullaby for the Taken, I will Never Forget, Singing Machine, Moving On, Blue Like Nevermind, My Heroes, Parade, 5 Years, Anthrax (Power-Ballad Version), You Love Me, Angels and Seagulls

not only do i love kimya dawson's music, but she is a beautiful person as well.

to me this album is very moving and heart felt, there are songs on here that can make a person shed a few tears and there are the ones that will make a person jump for joy. kimya's writing is so eloquent it speaks to a persons soul.

if you want to take a trip into a world where everything is beautiful even when there is a tragedy this is a wonderful album for that.

best when listened to while sipping on wine and watching a thunderstorm
