65 Days of Static are responsible for the other release on the fabulous Monotreme records this week & It's a blinder. We sold quite a few of their mini album early on this year (I think??) & this lovely bunch of lads have turned in a corker of a debut full length CD. 'The Fall Of Math' succeeds in blending electronics & guitars in a most visionary way, avoiding so many possible pitfalls along the way. Grandiose like a cross between Hope Of The States, Aphex Twin & Godspeed but the most blatant comparison I can make is a punkier Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia without the posh chick trying to psyche you out. Also see Mogwai & every decent post rock band worth their salt. Wicked. The debut album by 65daysofstatic from Sheffield, who meld seamless guitar shapes with ferocious drum n bass styled beats, live drums and c-c-c-computer g-g-g-g-glitch to create a soundtrack to a new dimension where rock, dance and electronica are equals. Now a Cargo best seller this is a must for all stores. Single Retret Retreat and new mcd Hole also available now. Their previous self-released ep (Dust punk records) sold out its run of 1000 & received radio support from John Peel (rather excellent) radio 1s one world. It was also awarded single of the week in organ zine & single of the month in logo. Their live shows, which are viciously euphoric, frenetic & really, really loud, earn them armies of new admirers every time they go out on the road.
