The Radio Dept
Lesser Matters
A Norman Records recommendation (30th November 2006)

This record left our Brian feeling ecstatic.
Ace Swedish indie combo The Radio Dept. have a full lengther on XL/Labrador available for you all to snap up like starving dogs. Entitled 'Lesser Matters', this is fuzzy & lovingly constructed post C86 genius that harks back to that hazy early nineties DIY Sarah records vibe without the rather cringewothy tweeness that blighted many releases on that label. Just really beautiful & sad songs layered with a blissful shoegazing fuzz that bring to mind The Field Mice's finest moments. Even Fats concedes this is really good & he was a member of the kill-all-things-twee brigade when me & Clint were propping up the bar at Field Mice gigs & would probably have stamped on my face with his furious hobnailed Jesus Lizard boot had he seen me then. How we all mellow when we get old!
