The Hives are back with Walk Idiot Walk.. Well that's a bit of good news. I think I'll put off slashing my head off with a rusty scythe for another week. They have a limited white vinyl 7" record out (CD was out last week) brought to you by the nice people at Polydor. I will not be drawn any further into a discussion of its musical merits or I might say something I regret.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
