This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic.

Righty then... Adrian Crowley. A name mentioned many a time before on these pages (well maybe 2 or 3 times...) and you'll be terribly pleased to know he has a new album out courtesy of those lovely folks at Misplaced Music. He was to have a Whiskey single out but that all went tits up when you all stopped buying my singles (am not bitter......) so instead you'll have to whet yr whistle with this fine piece of melancholy. This is absolutely gorgeous. To say it's miserable is an understatement. It makes Radiohead and Pink Moon era Nick Drake sound like Abba. It's not a chirpy album at all. But the songs are so lovingly crafted and his voice is so emotive you can't help but fall in love with it while you're crying into your pre bedtime horlicks. He should be king....

Adrian is a Dublin based self taught guitarist and singer. He sings gentle sorrowful disparate songs that have a deep emotional impact.

A Northern Country is a gorgeous album of heartbreak and loss. Gently resonating guitar and mournful cellos mix beautifully with Adrian's warm expressive voice bringing to mind the bleak autumnal melancholy of Red House Painters, Nick Drake with the folky edge of Alasdair Roberts and Will Oldham. This is a record for cold nights, loneliness and heartbreak.
