Wa-hey..... talking of middle aged here are Dressy Bessy who must be getting on a bit. Christ just look at the picture on the sleeve. The lady has tried her best but the gentleman have made no effort whatsoever. They're kicking and screaming against the clean shirts they've been forced to wear. This is great fun pop music. Bubblegum pop at its very best. Like Blondie crossed with All Girl Summer Fun Band crossed with Apples in Stereo. A great big barrel of fun for those of us that can still remember their youth. On Track and Field who also release a new album by the Of Montreal who have scarred and scared me so much in the past that I'm not going to listen to it.First, it’s the guitars, the buzzed-out psychedelic power-pop chords setting the foundation of sound. The rhythm bangs in next, all rough-and-tumble propulsion ahead. And finally, the vocals, the girly-bright happiness and warmth of Tammy Ealom’s voice, sly lyrics wrapped around infectious melody. Serious bopping and head-nodding will inevitably ensue, maybe a sing-along? And then it’s over, another slice of pop perfection delivered by Dressy Bessy. As the Boston Globe succinctly wrote, “This is the sound of Nancy Sinatra fronting The Kinks.”
‘Denver’s Dressy Bessy offer a wholesome melodic experience, riding a bubblegum breaker of radio-friendly harmonised girl-group punk…as succinct as a vintage Red Bird 45 and enjoyably vapid with it.’ – UNCUT magazine
‘Aislers Set vocals innocently stroking over Slumber Party guitars.’ – CARELESS TALK COSTS LIVES magazine
"Dressy Bessy's alternative bubblegum is a ball to listen to and makes you bob your head a la '60s psychedelic pop." – VILLAGE VOICE
