Fuck me, as if READING Everett True's sycophantic, incoherent & incredibly BORING ramblings isn't bad enough, now the most over-self-publicising idiot in rock journalism has managed to blag his way onto the new Kill Rock Stars comp CD. The Legend!'s debut 7", way back in 1983 was the 1st release on the fledgling Creation label. Legend (groan) has it, it sold so badly, the majority of the pressing was melted down to make plant pots. Most appropriate as I consider Mr. True to be the biggest plant pot of all time. So how the bejesus has the fool managed to bag the opening track on this mostly excellent 41 track collection of Yankophile indie pop? By licking arse till his tongue falls off, that's how! Well that's what it sounds like judging by his excruciating caterwauling. Other more salubrious guests on here number Dead Meadow, The Paper Chase, Slumber Party, Superchunk, The Buff Medways, Young People, Gravy Train, Devandra O Banhart & the lovely Laura Veirs amongst their ranks.
