Death Cab For Cutie - The New Year

The New Year by Death Cab For Cutie

3...according to our on Tue 12 Dec, 2006.

I don't want to come across as one of those 'their early stuff was better' guy's but here goes.  I really used to like Death Cab For Cutie but that last album did my head in.  Their new single 'New Year' on Fierce Panda  is ok but it just doesn't do anything or go anywhere...nothing exciting happens it just does the same thing over and over. Why are people raving over this LP. Any ideas? Is it just a case of their time has come because their other stuff was so good (see also Yo La Tengo)? Anyway it sounds like The Dismemberment Plan fronted by Neil Tennant and there's different B sides on the CD and 7".
