The Preston School of Industry album aims to please. You get the impression that if it had a tail it would be wagging it continuously. As you might know this is Spiral Stairs from Pavement and that's just about as edgy as it gets. You could imagine this band playing in bars in America to gum chewin' fellers drinking Miller Lite and ladies doing that weird dancing in their seats thing that so fascinates me - "C'mon people I want you all to sit down and dance". Anyway the best songs are the ones that sound a bit like Pavement - the worst ones are the ones where he resorts to going 'ba ba ba ba' a minute in when he's run out of words. Otherwise file under: pleasant. On Domino. Monsoon is on CD and LPBe the first to review this record. Best reviewer each month gets £10 off their next order!
