Another QOTSA related thingumybob hits the racks this week in the shape of Mark Lanegan's new solo effort. 'Here Comes That Weird Chill'. On Beggars Banquet, this 10"/CD mop-up exercise of an album contains colllaborative efforts with Josh 'n' Nick from QOTSA, Greg Dulli, Dean Ween & Stoner overlord Chris Goss. Strange, intriguing & occasionally thrilling, this is in parts fucked up voodoo rock (has a cover of Beefheart's 'Clear spot' on here, natch), Desert sessions style stoner mumblings & Tom Waits does Bon Jovi indulgence - :o/!! On the whole a pretty enjoyable effort & deffo one for the QOTSA obsessives.
