With such poetic prose, and emotionally strained vocals (sung with an honest delivery). "Down The River Of Golden Dreams" is a perfect demonstration of what good song writing should sound like. Will Sheff and co. weave a web of silky folk songs, inhabited by Sheff's predatory lyrics. One of the most under-rated albums of recent years. Imagine "In the aeroplane" over the sea, but without the hype.

Rating: happy This record left our Clint feeling happy.

New one by Okkervil River on Jagjaguwar. This is tuneful lilting countryish rock in the manner of a mellower Bright Eyes. The first song is an excellent effort though the blurb on the sleeve mentioning Pavement and REM is misleading. Its more like the kind of records Conor Oberst will be making when he's 40. We have Down The Rover of Golden Dreams on CD
