Re-issue of the year! The first self titled Movietone album has been re-issued on Geographic. This is a quite marvellous album (one of my favourites of the '90's in fact) and it has been made better by being re-mastered and having 4 extra tracks including the magnificent 'She Smiled Mandarine Like'. For the uninitiated it's slow, smoky, slightly jazzy 3am music with lovely gently undulating guitars and lady voices. Quite enthralling. Only negative point would be the thin card sleeve which will look tatty in a month or two. Otherwise, perfect! This is a remastered reissue of the hard-to-find debut Movietone longplayer, originally out on Planet Records in 1995, and available now with new liner notes and bonus tracks from singles: 'She Smiled Mandarine Like', 'Under the 3000ft Red Ceiling', and 'Orange Zero', as well as an unreleased track, 'Chance is her opera' (demo).
