Billy Mahonie, Grover, Left Hand, Various - The Two Minutemen

The end of the Twominutemen, 18 months after the first double seven inch was released, here’s the CD compiling that release, the second double 7” and 7 extra songs. This is the end of the series. No more. If Sony, Geffen or someone wants to buy the rights to carry the series on, we’ll accept 4 copies of the Fugazi 7” on Sub Pop, not the Dischord reissue.

The CD is 71 minutes long, has 39 fine bands, and is justifiable in its existence purely because you can’t get walkmans that play records. Being serious…..This CD is good, all the bands have done us and themselves proud and we are chuffed to be able to call it a Jonson Family release. Thanks to all peoples who have made it happen.

John Peel has been a massive sized dude when it comes down to it, he has played about 20 of the tracks, some of them 2 or 3 times, he’s plugged the hell out of it. The man is a hero. Gawd bless him.

10 bands from the compilation were asked by Peel to play live on his show, the evenings were called ‘The Tenminutemen’, each band had ten minutes to impress the world live from Maida Vale. The first night, in December 2002, Hirameka Hi Fi, Reynolds, Cove, Billy Mahonie, and Stanton played. The second night in July 2003, Twinkie, Charlottefield, Bilge Pump, I’m Being Good, and Joeyfat played.
