Todays indie stars just don't seem to have the same brazen disregard for fashion sense & drug laws. Saloon are either named after a nice family sized car of somewhere you get your hair done if yer a lady. Or even a drinking hole in the old wild west like in them John Wayne films. 'If We Meet In The Future' is the title of the London quintet's 2nd eagerly awaited opus. I thought their debut was the perfect encapsulation of everything I liked about British indie guitar music. This is more of the same. Stereolab, Pram, Neu!, Broadcast & some of the better Sarah bands all mashed up in one big metronomic indie ball. Super! On Track & Field. After the success of last year's debut LP, "(This is) What We Call Progress", Saloon release the eagerly awaited follow-up, "If We Meet In The Future". As with the first LP, "If We Meet In The Future" builds upon the sounds honed and nurtured by the band in their live shows and highlights their passion for studio perfection. Blending folk-rock, kraut-rock and electronica, with vocals in French, Spanish and English, the sound of Saloon is that of electronic and acoustic, the future and the past, colliding head on at full speed.
