Ulrich Schnauss. You've got to hand it to him, the boy knows his way around a melody. This is his new album on City Centre Offices and its big fluffy ultra-tuneful instrumental music thats just crying out to be used on car adverts across the globe. It kind of screams out "everythings ok, don't worry - you're completely safe" from the grooves. Its a cross between Slowdive, Boards of Canada and U2 (again it contains another blatant "with or without you" rip off) plus lots of wooshy/swooshing sounds some of which seem to have escaped from Queen's Flash Gordon album. But generally its as soft, warm and cuddly as a big fluffy towel. A Strangely isolated Place is out now!

The buzz was amazing. People were calling in every day asking when Ulrich's follow-up to "Far Away Trains Passing By" would be ready. And it took him some time. But it was worth the wait. We received maybe one track per month and slowly, very slowly the new album began to take shape. We did not expect anything. How? His debut album under his real name had always seemed perfect, but Ulrich managed to take it further. And further. And further. "A Strangely Isolated Place" is definitely bigger, deeper, more dirty even, contains more vocals and shouts its love for guitar pop straight into your heart.
