What the label says:

GSL is extremely proud to announce the debut U.S. release from Oslo, Norway’s critically-acclaimed JAGA JAZZIST. The band’s sound is minefield of contrasting textures and styles, the comparisons that come up often including Miles Davis, Squarepusher, Tortoise, Talk Talk, and Kid 606. The 10-piece group’s members span their domestic music scene and have performed with and/or been part of virtually every notable contemporary Norwegian band. Their debut album, A Livingroom Hush, was released in early 2001 by Warner Brothers – in Europe only. While the critical accolades began piling up, the band busied themselves with a handful of EP’s and work on the next full-length, while remaining virtually invisible outside of their homeland. All that is about to change, however. With widespread European press coverage and a recently-inked a deal to re-release …Hush worldwide on Ninja Tune, JAGA JAZZIST seem on the brink of breaking open to a massive audience. GSL fits into the equation with "Animal Chin," a 30-minute, 7-track collection of material from Hush (3 tracks), the Airborne EP (2 tracks), and a couple of unreleased remixes. Sort of a crash course in the JAGA modus operandi. Sleeve art is by Martin Horntveth, creator of the striking digitized images adorning the previous JAGA JAZZIST releases.

About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
