Daniel Johnston has always evaded my affections but with his new Mark Linkous (Sparklehoss) produced CD, 'Fear Yourself' I can feel a warmth spreading in my heart. Or my pants....I just can't take this overweight barmpot remotely seriously and guffaw uncontrolably everytime I hear him referred to as a genius.However, the songs on this new 'un are better produced, allowing some really nice tunes to seep through. With hints of The Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse & Grandaddy this is the one where he may still get that big fat award for being a big fat lunatic WITH tunes!Be the first to review this record.
