What we say

Rating: sad This record left our Brian feeling sad.

DFA are the krazy kool production team/label honchos on the tip of everybodys tongue at the mo' so in my grubby paws I have the Fat Cat licenced version of Black Dice's LP/CD entitled Beaches & Canyons. We all know Fat Cat is an experimental label given to unleashing waves of sonic terror at any given moment (see the amazing Xinlisupreme) but this is pants. Really cool, happening & NOW!!! but pants. Rather than scare yr granny it would just make her angry and throw her knitting at the stereo. Just tuneless noise, aimless noodling and blurry, woozy soundzzzz maaaan. If James Murphy produced this he must have drunk 3 crates of Bud Light beforehand! Buuuurp.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'uh.... my eyes.... everything's so bright here.'
