The new Autechre single (Gantz Graf) is here on CD, 12" and CD/DVD pack. The DVD features 3 videos including a new video version of Bad Vibel by Chris Cunningham. Initially I thought this was awful, just random bits of noise but as ever with Autechre if you stick at it there's melody and beats to be had hidden behind the frequencies and scary noises. It gets more melodic as you go through the EP. The DVD is worth checking out for the crazy CGI visuals etc.... Interesting and thankfully it's not bad rock.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
