What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic.

is a split between the Ukraine's Fotomoto and The Workhouse from England. Fotomoto first of all.. This is top.....Their track sounds like Blonde Redhead without the Sonic Youth obsession. Like a twee Blonde Redhead you could take home to meet your mum. It's a cracking pop tune which deserves big chart success though it's not gonna get any as there are only 250 copies. The Flipside is The Workhouse which is another top tune. I guess the easiest way to describe this is a rocking shoegazing number. Floaty yet rocky, like floating rock or a floating rock. It causes quite a commotion towards the end. Noisy but emminently tuneful. Saucy without the rude. We love this here....These are exciting times we live in....

What the label says:

This singles name is Hershel. It's full name is Hershel Whiskey 43. It's a split single between Ukraine based Fotomoto and UK based The Workhouse. It's ltd to 250 copies and we hope you enjoy it.

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.

'That's just what pop should be like. Loud, fast and very exciting.'
