What we say This record left our Phil feeling happy. .In now is a split 7" by Simon Joyner/ Two Dollar Guitar. Simon Joyner does the miserable alt country type thing and I reckon will appeal to the Will Oldham fans out there. Of which I know there's tons and tons..... It's very lovely if not a little sombre.....Two Dollar Guitar on the other hand... well actually they're firmly plumped square in the same hand. ie more alt country sombre sounding stuff but it's not quite as lo fi. Only they do a cover of Last Time by The Rolling Stones which is quite inspired. For all you late night misery punters. I liked it but then I'm getting into my depressing music at the mo.... About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
