Track & Field release the new CD by The Great Lakes and it's quite 60's 70's sounding psyche pop with a proggyness about it. Only heard the 1st few tracks but what I heard I enjoyed muchly. I reckon it's a maffis grower.Great Lakes is an 8-piece band from Athens, Georgia... home of REM amongst others. Great Lakes (Heat 02) was recorded in their home studio between 1997 and 1999 before being mixed by Robert Schneider from the Apples in Stereo.
The LP is reminiscent of 60s/70s piano led pop of bands such as the Zombies, Beach Boys and Bee Gees, however it's also reminded us of the psyche pop of The Chills Flaming Lips and Galaxie 500. Even Spiritualized!
