A massive double helping of scrumptious sonic candy from Mordant Music this week with the super ace ‘Electronic 1’ LP from Tod Dockstader and a delicious side-order served on a 10” platter with drool worthy remixes from Mordant Music and Ekoplekz.
First to the table is Mordant Music re-working ‘Bell Stomp’ and ‘Pond Dance’ transforming the original source material into a full on psychedelic techno stormer that’s brain meltingly marvellous. The beats are full on and punishing but the agression is balanced with the lush synth sounds and ultra dense layers of pure electronic bliss. If you’ve felt the vibes of Haxan Cloak's ‘Observitory’ EP then this will do the trick nicely.
Rotate 180 degrees and down below man of steel Ekoplekz is lurking in the fog and shadows with his brand of dubbed out bleep-tronics going to work on ‘Boingo Background’. Needless to say it’s another unstoppable shot from his cannon, smudging things up in a gloopy smoked out futurist fashion. Right on the money every time this chap. Everyone’s a winner baby, that’s no lie.
Me, Myself & Ekoplekz present two versions of Tod Dockstader library production tunes from his 1979/1981 LPs for Aldwych stalwarts Boosey & Hawkes...one veers towards saline techno, the other remains a resolute radiophonic bubbler...both of us are well chuffed to have had the chance to tamper with the wiley tape sage's great work ...BM
