Fabulous Diamonds - Commercial Music (CD)

This is the third album from this Melbourne duo following a couple of crackers for  Siltbreeze which really seems like ages ago now but here they are back in action.

'Inverted / Vamp’ begins proceedings with a dark hypnotic drum groove, layers of  hovering guitar and a dreamy, sultry vocal from Nisa Venerossa toward the latter part of the track the synths really kick in offering some fabulous alien pulses.

'John Song' is up next and it continues with superb steady drums, lots of ethereal atmospherics and dubbed out guitar.'Lothario' is pretty zoned out too continuing with a very similar sound palette which gives a wonderful flow and sense of continuity to the album.

'???' has a sluggish  stomp to it with dislocated bleeps making the intensity slowly unfurl. 'Wandering Eye' is  yet more quality, otherworldly dark pop that makes way for epic ten minute plus  closer' Downhill'. This one begins with some good old fashioned repetition that sees things  change and appear in a most subtle fashion. Then things shift into the kosmische zone which  is unexpected yet welcome as it's done rather well.

If you dig HTRK then I can highly recommend 'Commercial Music' as a fair few moments on here reminded me of those guys.
