Lower - Walk On Heads (7" vinyl)

Lower are the latest scuzzy nihilistic noise punk types to emerge from the burgeoning scene in my third city, Copenhagen. They’ve got members of bands who’ve got members of Iceage, if that helps give you some idea as to what they’re up to, and indeed a little insight on the incestuous Copenhagen scene they’re a part of. Opener ‘Craver’ has some clanky treble-heavy bass tones and delightful stop-start glassy guitar squall over a brooding, slow burning vocal performance that’s totally captivating.

This track’s the highlight but over the course of the rest of the EP there’s three more tracks of slightly unhinged mid-paced post-hardcore which recalls the likes of the Wipers and Husker Du but with more of a Iceage/Teenage Panzerkorps kind of modern thin-sounding lo-fi scuzz. Cool sounds.
