I’d literally just hit stop on the Ariel Pink album and then Business Lady hands me this Lindstrom 12” to write about and low and behold the first remix is by the aforementioned popsters. It kicks off with an extended fuzzy intro then drops into a mid tempo 4/4 beat complete with Chi-town school jacker vocal and then takes an unexpected twist into stomping deep house territory with a lush brain massaging sparkly synth, then it strips right back into minimal style, then off into a bit of a jam and then back to the intro sound for an outro. Phew!!! It’s like about six tunes in one!
On the flipside Oneohtrix Point Never tackles ‘Call Me Anytime’ launching plumes of gaseous synths into the atmosphere which hover with extended angelic choral vocals in a sort of oldskool ambient mode. Some processed vocal snippets make an appearance adding an additional detached alien feel to proceedings while strings are briefly layered over the top to conclude the mix.
Emerald’s man Mark McGuire drops by for the final remix. Sprinkling the disco styles of ‘Deja Vu’ with his own electronics and guitar.
