OK, this first number is essentially a Hebden-esque techno track with some twittering birds on it. If you like birdsong which I’m confident many of you do, me included, you’ll be wondering why there’s this rumbling minimal techno loop complete with an irritating micro-house edit steamroller-flattening through all the nuances. It’s not bad really, pretty Berlin sounding with not much variation or depth yet over a soundsystem it probably sounds really amazing...but it left me feeling a little deflated, especially after the blinding genius that is the Dimitrios K record.
Now, over to the flip and we get Rabbit Songs which is probably supposed to resemble likkle bunny wabbits getting down and frisky with each other, it has that kind of eager furry excitable bounce to it, the woody, echo laden effects and maraca-style sounds certainly give this track a nice organic Matthew Herbert vibe and it’s by far my preferred choice of the two sides, mainly as there’s a real sense of evolution and itchy tribal funk about it. I may even buy the fucker for this track, it’s well sweet yo!!
