There’s a couple of tracks of nostalgic boy/girl shoepop style indie on this 7” here. While it fits snugly into the relevant genre boundaries it’s certainly done with style and the songs are totally charming and catchy, bringing to mind the likes of Lush, Slowdive and Ride.
There’s chiming lead and fuzzy rhythm guitars and a metronomic mid-paced groove which build to a heady climax on the A-side, reminding me of the Jesus and Mary Chain in places. If these guys had been around 20 years ago people would be all over this shit. Flip it and there’s another song which reminds me of all those bands I just mentioned, but with maybe a bit more of a goth-poppy Bunnymen/Banshees kinda vibe. Entirely derivative but near-perfectly executed and very enjoyable.
