Rainbow Valley - Tipoftheredgiantbranch (Cassette tape)

You know how the other day I was marvelling over the quality and diversity of music coming out of Southend-on-Sea at the moment? Well, here’s something else from that fertile beachy wonderland, this time from Graham “Little Penguin” Boosey under his Rainbow Valley moniker, doling out some densely layered cosmic new age synthesizer drones. Now we get a lot of these droney synth records here at Norman but I can honestly say this is one of the warmest and most immersive I’ve heard in a while, with slowly circling Celer-esque melodies creeping gently into your subconscious with harmonious grace and a wee touch of grain.

There’s not much more to say about it than that because, you know, it’s another one of them synth-drone records. You try writing about four or five of them every week and still find something new to say about each one. Doesn’t make it any less delicious, though.
