Oh! Hurrah! Some music!!! With singing and everything! As Elvis Costello, REM, Queen, the Beach Boys and Wall of Voodoo all proved, put ‘Radio’ in the title and chorus of a song and you’ll get airplay. Dark Horses have attempted the same trick but their track is so dark and intense it might only be Tom Ravenscroft or Marc Riley daring to spin it on the digital airwaves.
Its a fuzzy thing with a ‘60s Spector vibe somewhere between Beach House and Jesus and Mary Chain. It has a decent melody actually which starts to worm its way into your skull after a few plays. On the flip you get another radio song, ‘Radio Offshore’ which I think ...yup...is the same song radically reworked with a pulsing bassline and contributions from Robert Levon Been from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club which makes perfect sense.
