Okay, I’ve got no supporting info for this release and my brain isn’t really functioning at its best so please forgive me if my factual info is a little off...
What we seem to have here is a re-jig of Delta 5’s cold shoulder disco punk classic ‘Mind Your Own Business’ from Benge and his mate Phil Winter. They’ve basically preserved the original structure of the track and chosen to augment it with electronic embellishments. So a 303 replaces the original bass-line, the drums are replaced with a 4/4 bass drum and smatterings of hi-hat with an occasional appearance of a washed out, distorted snare. The crunchy treatment of the original guitar line and the vocal line really make this one.
Flip it and we get an original from duo with the bonus of ex-Cabaret Voltaire/Acid Horse man Stephen Mallinder on vocal duties. This is a pretty odd little mutant disco cut that’s impossible to explain but has it’s origins in obscurest early electronic punk and German techno and is all claustrophobic, late night and grubby sounding.
