Very interesting reissue right here! Proto-punkers Crime’s ‘Hot Wire My Heart’ is best known for being covered by the mighty Sonic Youth on their ‘Sister’ LP, but on this 7” here we’ve got the original cut, backed by a track called ‘Baby You’re So Repulsive’.
Listening to it now it’s amazing to think that this came out way back in ‘76, since the overdriven Stooges scuzz and sloppy Black Flag-esque delivery would fit in just fine with the first wave of hardcore punk five years later. A brilliantly nasty garage pop single which might’ve been much more popular in the first place if it had come out a year later. It says “”Thank you Thurston” on the run-out groove too, which is a pretty sweet touch I think.
