Don’t know anything about Red Rack’em but RAMP rarely disappoints - its peripheral vision in the dance music world always catching something everyone else is missing.
Here we’re treated to two distinct slices of messy, kinda druggy house with its head firmly nodding itself dizzy in the chillout room. ‘Chirpsin’ mashes muddy bass tones with futuro, almost dubstep-esque (sorry...) beats. That basically equates to a regular 4/4 bass beat with a flurry of rimshots and accents giving the groove an almost Afro-step a la Burial and the like. Really love the cosmic mess of synths on display here and the bassline will keep you kicking for the duration.
Flip it and ‘All Alone’ brings a second serving of dub-infused minimalist house beats. This one’s a spacious, smoky, late-night affair fo’ sure. Real crisp and subtle.
Digging the generic sleeve by the way. Nice to see RAMP taking their packaging seriously.
