Kyle Bobby Dunn, or KBD as he's going to be known as for the duration of this review, is back with a brand new 2CD opus on Low Point. 'Bring Me The Head Of' is a 2CD set (much like 'A Young Persons Guide To...' from 2010) and musically it works as a strong companion to its predecessor.
If you're not familiar with KBD's work and you're a fan of all things drone then you probably should be. He makes beautifully intimate warm sounding drones. Some of the album was recorded in remote parts of Canada and you can hear that in the music as it has a very desolate and spacious feel to it. I might shoehorn isolationist in there as well. It's lovely stuff though and it's one of those drone albums that makes you feel like you're being wrapped up in velvety goodness whilst drifting away on floaty fluffy clouds. Very nice indeed. It'd be hard not to mention Stars of The Lid as there's a definite SOTL vibe to some of KBD's work. It's got that epic, celestial feel to it and you can hear it's been made by someone who knows their drone onions.
Personally this album ticks all the right drone boxes for me and even though over the last few years there have been at least one million drone albums released which all sound terribly similar this one is head and shoulders above the vast majority of them. Aaaannd it's got a great title!
