Curious little lad, this one. Totally loving the riso printed Bill Kouligas sleeve art (he’s the dude who does all those sexy Pan sleeves) with smartly dressed people clambering over geometric shapes in redscale. As for the music itself, Bomber Jackets (who feature members of spindly post-garage weirdos Pheromoans) seem to be peddling some kind of slow-paced bedroom darkwave business that’s got kind of a less murky Tropic Of Cancer type feel to it.
I’m kinda vibing on it actually...the singing is quite earnest and untrained and it’s reminding me of early ‘80s DIY British synthpop, and the lead track ‘Larching’ has a really warm metronomic electro-dub shuffle to it which makes it feel quite summery and soulful despite the darkwave/techno feel. The way the tracks are composed is minimal but there’s some classy and well-judged detailing in there.
