Here’s the first new Deepchord album since the ace Liumin album which Modern Love chucked at us two years ago. It doesn’t seem that long ago...time proper flies these days. Slightly off topic but it’s 22 years since Pod by The Breeders was released which makes me feel well old... Anyway if you're not familiar with the sound of Modell & Co they make wonderfully dubby sounding processed soundscapes and are pioneers of the scene known as ‘dub techno’. This album is one 71-minute track and is a soundtrack to a film called Silent World. Now a track of that length sounds kinda daunting but it’s more like the different tracks have been mixed together rather than one huge long super track. Having said that it is one 71-minute long super track so I feel pretty stupid now...I know what I mean. It’s very much in the vein of of what I’ve heard by them before. Dark grainy soundscapes that make you feel like it’s raining constantly and also make you feel off your head. Whenever I listen to these guys I always feel spannered which is a little disconcerting. It’s an exceptional mix of beatier dub techno tracks and the more mellow drifting soundscapes. It works brilliantly I have to say. I’m mightily impressed!
