On this very limited split LP we’ve got a long drone from Tidal (aren’t they a rock band? Not this one anyway) and a long drone from Rambutan. The Tidal one is quite new-agey, concordant, shimmering stuff that goes nowhere slowly and pleasantly. The Rambutan one has more new-agey shimmering business, although this time there’s some more prominent synth twinkles and a bit more of a melodic focus.
Actually, that Tidal side was leaving me a little cold (although you pure drone/minimal types may find it more to your tastes) but this is much more up my cup of tea, quite an astral, refreshing trip with gentle snippets of melody and lovely warm synth textures creating a really summery vibe, like an ambient take on Inner Tube’s sun-bleached ‘80s moods, with electronic chirrups and whooshes towards the end reminding me of Sun Araw. Well nice. If you’re into High Wolf or Dolphins Into The Future you’ll be well into this one.
