‘Modern Driveway’ is Luke Abbott’s first work since his debut album, ‘Holkham Drones’ (highly praised by the likes of Mojo, The Guardian, NME, the dance press, The Wire, Resident Advisor and Drowned in Sound).
Whereas for others an EP might be a continuation of an album, this EP stands alone, as unique as any of his other releases. Another shift forward for the bedroom artist, Luke admits that “this EP is a way for me to release something more digestible, it’s certainly less obtuse than my other work.”
Having previously released on James Holden’s Border Community label, this EP comes out on Gold Panda’s Notown imprint. The pair met when Gold Panda remixed Luke’s track ‘Brazil’, with Gold Panda then inviting Luke to perform at his sold out 2011 Koko show in London.
“Electronic music that is at turns subtle and soothing, intense and challenging. You can trace its lineage back through Boards Of Canada to Aphex Twin and beyond to Eno. A richly rewarding experience” - Mojo (‘Holkham Drones’ - Electronica Album Of The Month, 4/5)
