I put this on at 33rpm at first and thought for some time that it was at the right speed and it was some sort of post-dubby synthpop, but actually on the correct speed of 45 it's a lot bouncier, but it's still got a wistful shoegazey edge to it which contrasts nicely with the bright J-pop synths and crisp drum machine beats to give a feel somewhere between Pet Shop Boys at their most triumphant and pumping and the more downbeat introspective modern house-gaze stylings on that awesome recent Sapphire Slows 12”. It lends it an air of upbeat nostalgia that's totally warming my heart, and the beats are aimed right at your feet. This must sound amazing blasting out in the indie clubs at one in the morning. Brilliant record actually, bright and aggressive but understated and detailed too, with soft fluttering synths and heavy bass tones and echoey submerged vocals and simple, confident, upbeat melodies. Excellent stuff.
