What do you do when you want to put out records but your name is already taken by a Leeds poet/classicist and a fictional purple head with tentacles? You change your name to Konntinent (or maybe Arev Konn or Paco Sala) of course! Yes, Tony Harrison is back with more of his carefully structured textures and tones, this time with a bit of a dark ambient feel to his minimal power electronics-spattered synth drone. The cold, insistent, glassy high tones and swelling mid and bass offer comforting robotic chords, sometimes throbbing coolly like an electronic Stars Of The Lid, sometimes interacting more busily with filthy interference and distortion for a less soothing ride. I prefer it when he does the swelling droney ambient bits. Phil says they remind him of the end of the film Flash Gordon when they're all messing around in space. On the whole, though, this is a record of electronic improvised ambience which takes in paranoid darkness and composed stillness and spits out something in between. Another impressive journey from a modern day master.
