Trensmat are never ones to disappoint the lads at Norman's. Pretty much all the artists that pass through the label are of interest to some...if not all members of staff. This week they hit us an LP of psych-techno gumminess from mysterious new artist and NZ resident Tlaotlon. You may remember that Trensmat introduced him earlier in the year on a split with Whirling Hall Of Knives - a 7” that upset Dave so much he went AWOL and we've not seen him since (or atleast that's the official line line here in the office). Bless that lad (a tear shed for the fallen soldier). Well it's debut LP time for Tlaotlon which means happy days for us as this NZ born super bonger cuts a fine line in smoke corrupted psych-techno splurge with his debut sitting somewhere between Astral Social Club's recent output and the last Moritz Von Oswald record. That's right kids - we've got a live one here! These brain-frying cosmic freak-out's suggest a myriad of possibilities for free-form space Techno and is a genuinely mind-blowing listen. Obviously something this squelchy and A.D.D inducing is gonna take a few plays to seep in but for now I'm getting hints of the aforementioned Astral Social Club and Moritz V. Oswald plus Tomutonttu (on acid), Black Dice (on 'shrooms), Growing (on PCP) and Phil Todd a.k.a Ashtray Navigations (on Acid, Shrooms and PCP hanging out with Tomutonttu and Black Dice whilst house sitting for Growing). Chaotic but worthwhile listening. Five flippin' stars mate!
