More dreamy ambience from the Schole label in this week. This time around it's 'Dream Line', the debut album from Japanese composer and pianist Yoshinori Takezawa. Takezawa's style is very classical and soundtrack-esque with dreamy, almost magical piano lines lulling me into the state of mild melancholia and nostalgia. Takezawa's piano work is occasionally augmented with various trickles of sound, be it smatterings of percussion, flutes, fingerpicked acoustic guitars, light brass or perhaps a strange reversed vocal line here and there. The resulting sound is delicate and considered with only the sweetest of melodies making the grade. There's nothing here that implies any sense of danger, tension or anger - only an overwhelming sense of well being. Very beautiful stuff that certainly wouldn't sound out of place in one of those incidental scenes in a Wes Anderson film.
