Third Man Live is a division of the Third Man record label (CEO Jack White). As it says on the tin, it's a series of live recordings and very rousing this one is too. He has quite the voice, this singer, like Robert Plant having an orgasm.......hold on...what??? Oh apparently it's a lady singer. Ladies weren't as venemous as this in my day. She's no Joanna Newsom this lass - voice like a set of bagpipes. She belts this out. It's a big soulful southern rock number that plays into Jack White's hands with its gritty determination. On the flip you get a slower Janis Joplin-style slice of over-emoting. Not my thing at all but you have to be impressed by the sheer gusto. It's superbly recorded for a live 7” and the crowd go bonkers at the end (though this could be at the sight of Jack White wandering on to turn off the amps).
