...according to our Li'l Biz on Thu 23 Feb, 2012.
More synth enthusiasts hit the Norman shelves this week courtesy of the ever dependable Aguirre. This time it's Pulse Emitter a.k.a. Daryl Groetsch of Portland, Oregon up to bat. I've not heard this guy's stuff before but he comes highly recommended by that David Keenan bloke from Volvic Tongues so I'm hoping for good things...and that's exactly what I'm gettin'. Opener 'Hermit' is a perfect beatless cosmic synth jam. This tune is absolutely at peace with itself with strong melodic phrases enticing you into a deep repetitious lull. Really beautiful piece with synthesis that sounds super fresh to my ear. That'll be the Ensoniq VFX-SD i reckon. 'Spaceship' is a stripped back minimalist affair that at first seems random in its arrangement before solidifying as the track progresses. Great Sci-Fi soundtrack type biz. Flip it and we're treated to more cosmic excursions that wouldn't sound out of place as incidental pieces on the Flash Soundtrack. Excellent cuts but it's all about that opening track. Amazing tune.
