DJ Shadow - Scale It Back

Scale It Back by DJ Shadow

3...according to our on Thu 16 Feb, 2012.

No mention of the record company on the sleeve. Are they ashamed of the record or themselves? They shouldn't be on either count. The records fine and Island were responsible for keeping the Nick Drake records in stock when no-one gave a toss so I can forgive them for Justin Bieber (maybe). Anyway we have three remixes and an original. I actually like the Silkies Slow Jam Mix with its Slinky Scritti Politti grooves. I'll skip the next two mixes as I hate them so much so we'll get to the original version which features Little Dragon. The first thought is 'What has become of DJ Shadow?'. I mean its nice enough slithery r & b with your trademark boom bap drums and a decent set of pipes and some Stevie Wonder harmonica wheezing. But ground breaking it ain't. Fairly enjoyable though on a slow day.
