Richard Youngs - Core To The Brave

Core To The Brave by Richard Youngs

Richard Youngs seems to be constantly making records. The man is a record making machine! 'Core To The Brave' is as eccentric and wild as anything I've heard him knock out in times past and sees his very Greg Lake-esque vocal drift upon an ocean of gnarly blown-out bass grooves and electro-static drum rhythms. It's as if someone has literally smashed the rhythms to pieces and sort of taped them back together in a ramshackle way! It's like Richard Youngs fronting Arab On Radar in their 'Yahweh Or The Highway' period...but with bass...so probably not really but you get the idea. It's difficult to say anything more than that. Instrumentally the album is fairly consistent with very little variation in Youngs vocal style - which is alarmingly consistent, even down to the key of his voice. Makes for great listening mind. A true master of experimental rock and pop.

With scores of releases both solo & in collaboration that stretch back for more than 20 years, Richard Youngs perhaps needs the least amount of introduction of any of the artists Root Strata has worked with. We're extremely excited to help Richard add another singular entry into his discography. 'Core To The Brave' hits with a shock and never lets up. Composed of what appears to be blown out bass & spastic drum rhythms, these tracks cascade into shimmering loops of distortion, their weight reaching a critical mass that often feels likes it's on the verge of ecstatic collapse. Everything is elevated further in & up by that one and only voice, floating over top like a lush wind come down from the mountains. Edition of 500.
