You know you want this. The abstract master is the latest in a long line of progressive beatsmiths to rework the Shaangan material in their own vision. On side A his vision falls somewhere between Jamal Moss's whacked-out electronic whipcrack frequencies, carried by a sublime thumper of a hipswaying beat with that most heady cerebral element of old ambient techno/Detroit synths and a wistful vocal echo woven throughout. A highly potent and emotive track. The flip is a hyped-paced vibrant techno stormer with loads of frantic marimba and thumb piano. It sounds extra fun pitched at minus eight as the irresistible itchy melody aligns itself more with your mind's natural groove and it becomes quite the infectious baby. Both sides of this twelve are utterly wonderful hypnotic slices of intoxicating future techno with the original African vibe left mercifully intact
Two dazzling, out-there contributions from the inimitable Actress: an immersive, slashing thumper, ecstatic and convulsive, multi-layered and head-nodding, just about getting Mars on the radio; and a kind of unhinged marimba and thumb-piano variation, grubbing around manically in half-memories of African polyrhythm.
