Chairlift's debut album 'Does this Inspire You?' has one of those titles begging for a one word review. Their follow up has a bland catch all title designed to stop idiots like me doing a 'shit sandwich' with it. The music is no less aiming to please. It might as well wag its tail. Its polished 80's style pop scrubbed to within an inch of its life. The sort of thing that may have nestled in the 'Our Price' cassette bargain bin in '87. The production values are very Scritti Politti circa 'Provision' - that's ok but there needs to be some kind of grit and songwriting nous to see it through and already half way in I'm hearing too many sacharinne ballads. I did like one track ' Wrong Opinion' which marries the super soft sweet vocals with some harsher Depeche Mode clanks and driving bass and has a sneaky little catchy melody to boot. Similarly 'Amanaemonesia' matches its title with something a little bit more spicy and a catchy chorus and as the album goes on they get a little bit more daring - overall sitting somewhere between Laura Brannigan, Propaganda, Junior Boys and Fever Ray. Just a little too non threatening to be interesting.
* After more than 18 months of composition and recording, Brooklyn-based & outer-spaced musical duo Chairlift return with a new album called ‘Something’, their dense and deftly-driven sophomore episode.
* The album is the follow up to their 2008 Kanine Records debut ‘Does You Inspire You’. Composed in the back room of a rented New York antiques store, it was recorded at the London studio of its producer Dan Carey (The Kills, Hot Chip, La Roux).
* ‘Something’ comprises eleven tracks, including the recently premiered ‘Sidewalk Safari’ and ‘Amanaemonesia’, which was released on 7-inch in the US only on Chris Taylor’s (Grizzly Bear) label Terrible Records in August.

* Awarded 'Best New Music' by Pitchfork for second single 'Met Before'; "At a time when there's just so many bands doing "small", its an enjoyable treat to hear an act like Chairlift go for "big"- like, really big- and succeed on every level."
* Recent headliners of London's seminal Boiler Room alongside Jamie Jones, John Talabot and Doldrums.
* Both 'Sidewalk Safari' and ‘Met Before’ have garnered significant radio support across Radio 1, BBC6 and XFM, with ‘Met Before’ chosen as Nick Grimshaw’s Radio1 Single of the Week.
* With consistently impressive visual components, January will see an exclusive interactive software used in video for 'Met Before'.
* Fresh from a US tour with James Blake, culminating in a headline gig at NYC’s Mercury Lounge, Chairlift played select shows in UK and Europe this month, including an already legendary Boiler Room performance and show at Silencio Paris.
* Chairlift are Caroline Polachek and Patrick Wimberly.
*In between Chairlifting, Caroline recently collaborated with Washed Out on the song ‘You and I’, and Patrick produced NYC rap duo Das Racist’s album ‘Relax’.
* "Catchy soaring hooks, 80s disco beats, dreamy bass riffs, bridges that make you screw up your face (with joy)... a marvel"
