Really like the sleeve for this. Presumably the band are named after the Herzog documentary about his relationship with the madman genius that was Klaus Kinski and this single is shaping up to be one of the years more delicate anthems. A slice of tumbling dusty melodic Americana that sounds disarmingly familiar and somewhat timeless, I cannot put my finger directly on what it reminds me of but it's so beautifully paced with an irresistible chiming guitar motif, steady ambling drums and blissed out longing vocal harmonies that ultimately leads to a languid psychedelic crescendo. It's quite perfect you know and unfortunately the clear stand-out track from their forthcoming album which I've tried really hard to enjoy but can happily live without. I'm sure this NY dwelling outfit will garner plaudits from other more easily impressed sources but they irrespectively get high marks from me for this lovely single.

• Following the announcement of their signing to Warp in late November, New York-based quintet My Best Fiend release their limited debut Warp single.

• A smouldering slither of psychedelic rock laced with hints of Spiritualized, Tame Impala, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Girls, My Best Fiend’s track ‘Higher Palms’ paves the way for a debut full- length release in 2012.

•    Only 100 of these limited 7”s will be available in the UK. The title track is backed with a remix by Young Montana?, who has recently also remixed for the likes of WU LYF, amongst others.
